Diageo Moët Hennessy (Thailand) is partnering up with Spice Garden Chiang Mai to host a contest for mixologists from all over the northern
region of Thailand to serve out their best shots. Winner from this regional round will proceed to compete in the national stage in Bangkok.
Spice Garden turned its flamboyant Brasserie & Bar, an outlet with dual concepts to be the venue for these contestants to show off their
talents. During the day time, the outlet portrays as a dainty café which serves coffee, tea, and assorted desserts during the day time, and
becomes a stylish lifestyle bar with premium whiskeys and spirits after the sun sets.
The World Class Thailand 2020: Northern Regional Round was held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. The contest was divided into three
challenges. 1. Botanical Journey: the mixologists were assigned to create their signature drinks inspired by the story and flavor of the
botanic of their choices, and used TANQUERAY LONDON DRYGIN as one of the ingredients. 2. Blind Spirit Testing: the mixologists
randomly picked a glass of spirits from the mystery box, and would have to identify the category, brand, and describe three key selling
points of the certain spirit. 3. The Classic 8: the mixologists were required to create one of the eight classic cocktails that were randomly
selected for them, using the one of the four provided spirits to create the perfect flavor.
The winner of the World Class Thailand 2020: Northern Regional Round was announced to be Le Méridien Chiang Mai’s mixologist
Nipichthorn Junkaew (Petch), who will proceed to compete in the national stage in Bangkok. Some of contestants participated in this
regional round might also be qualified to the next round with Petch, which will be announce later in March 2020.
